How to Delete Your WhatsApp Business API Number?

Deleting a number from the WhatsApp Cloud API frees it so you can use it on the WhatsApp app again or with another provider. Disconnecting it from Whautomate alone does not delete it from Meta.

How to Delete Your WhatsApp Business API Number​

If you’re looking to delete your WhatsApp Business API number, it’s essential to follow the correct process to ensure the security of your data and the continuity of your business operations. First disconnect it from Whautomate: go to Settings > Integrations, click Edit Setup on the WhatsApp card, click Disconnect WhatsApp, type CONFIRM and click Yes, Disconnect. Then delete it in Meta:

  1. Go to the Meta WhatsApp Manager: Visit the Meta WhatsApp Manager.

  1. Select the "Phone numbers" menu
    • Under the "Account tools" menu, select the "Phone numbers" option.

  1. Locate and Delete Your Number
    • On this screen, you will see the WhatsApp Number. On the right side, click the "Delete" icon.

  1. Confirm Deletion
    • A pop-up will open. Click the "Next" button to proceed with the deletion process.

Important Note:

If you delete your WhatsApp number, you will lose access to:

  • Display name & profile
  • Official business account status (if applicable)
  • Messaging limit tier & quality rating
  • Chat history & insights data
